There have been cases of wage abuse in the store chain that has been going on just under the nose of everyone (Boubaker Nguyen, 2014). The employees in the store chain are said to have been abused consistently for a long time. The media, through their freedom of speech and their protection rights, disclosed the fact that 7-elleven comes to the top of the iceberg but, unfortunately, Australia had little knowledge on the stores labor market that has been growing out of control at a higher rate. The issue of wage abuse in the stores has raised a lot of concern considering that there are close to 13 million workers in Australia working on visas, counting to one out of ten of the total workforce causing a bigger issue that has a lot of implication to the economy of the country (Boubaker Nguyen, 2014). Considering the efforts the medial has put in the case of 7-elleven of making the public the governing authorities aware of the situation, journalism and media housed needs to be given a lot of major concerns in their fields. When considering the ethics in journalism, it appears that every ethics in journalism that is valid across the world is unthinkable. Different countries experience different elements that form the focus on the ethical debate. To single out the issue, ethics in journalism should not limit the media houses in their work provisions. The media agencies and institutions are always out to create awareness and make the beast in the air be seen(Ishikawa NejoÃÅ'„, 2002). Corporate governance and responsibilities should not be a barrier to the media in terms of making the awareness or giving the best out of their work. 7-elleven is a better example to be used to rule out that journalism and media has a lot of significance in monitoring and governing the different corporations around the country. If not for the media, the case of wage abuse by 7-elleven could never been known to the public and the employees would probably be still going through the abuse and humiliation that undermined their social living standards. Thumbs up for media agencies and a lot of support needs to be given to them to allow them continue offering and exposing the beasts in the air rescuing the people being oppressed in any context (Lee, 2006). For Financial Review Corporations should be highly monitored to ensure that they are operational and fully functional according to the guidelines and the provisions by the law. it is the mandate and responsibility of the corporation to ensure that the employees are well compensated for the efforts they are showing towards making the success of the company. The government and other financial regulators are as well expected to be on their feet to ensure the employees are well compensated considering they are a significant factor in the contributions thy make towards the economy of the country (Blowfield Murray, 2014). 7-elleven is a good example of a corporation that would mean that the many corporations around the country are to be closely monitored and governed on their compensation schemes. The wages that are rewarded to the employees are to be reviewed by the financial bodies to ensure the employees are serving the company and significantly compensated. Financial regulators should be out to closely mo nitor corporations to ensure that they are treating their employees and compensating them according to the law. 7-elleven is one corporation that has a well history of mismanaging their employees by abusing them through the wages they pay. The abuse has been going on for a long time until the latter was exposed by the media and the awareness led to the wages abuse being looked at in a different perspective by the regulators. In the same context, it is seen that the media are also an important bogy in investigating the financial misconduct in various institutions. Therefore, as much as journalism and media has to be controlled by ethics, there are certain ethical issues that the media need immunity and protection (Tully, 2005). By monitoring the company and digging into its financial records and reports, the company could easily sue the media company fir interfering with their private affairs. But, in another perspective, if the media is to be banned from conducting such investigations, the oppression of the employees at 7-elleven and their wage abuse would not have been brought to light. Thus, the media should be ethically immune to certain issues so that the can comfortably research and put to air such issues (Fraedri ch Ferrell, 2010). Even when one would argue that there are financial regulators and other governing bodies, it is clear that the wages abuse at 7-elleven was going on even at the nose of these regulators. This brings it clear that the media is an important tool in certain events and should be protected and allowed to conduct investigation on certain suspicious moves by corporations. Even in the financial reviews, the media should always be alert to identify those who abuse their financial authorities and oppressing their employees or contractors (Spedding, 2004).
